Roger Dale Bakken, 72, of Waterloo, Iowa, passed away on May 19, 2026. Born on August 15, 1953, Roger was a proud graduate of West Waterloo High School, Class of 1971. Shortly after graduation, he served his country honorably in the U.S. Army from 1971 to 1973.


Roger dedicated much of his career to John Deere in Waterloo, where he worked diligently from 1975 until his retirement in 2009. Known for his strong work ethic and love for the outdoors, Roger found joy in fishing, tending to his yard, and gathering around campfires. He had a passion for hot rods and muscle cars and was an avid music enthusiast.


Above all else, Roger cherished time spent with his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy Bakken; his son, Travis Bakken; his daughter, Lindsay Lane; his daughter-in-law, Kelly Bakken; and two beloved granddaughters, Stella Bakken and Marley Mummelthie. He is also survived by his mother, Ruby Stegen; and sisters, Nancy Burcham and Dianne Bloxom. Roger was preceded in death by his father, Roger Bakken Sr.; and his sister, Sandra Roe.


Roger's legacy as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His love for life and the simple pleasures it offered will be fondly remembered.


May Roger's memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
